Government does not have the right to infringe on the liberties and rights of an individual. In other words, our elected officials cannot and should not have a say in what kind of vehicle we drive, what temperature we set our thermostats at, whether we eat “trans fat” or not, what consenting adults choose to do in the privacy of their own homes, homeschooling, where we worship or if we choose to not worship, and other choices. Individuals have the right to peacefully assemble, protest the government and other entities, and make their voices heard. In other words, as long as our actions and choices aren’t infringing on the liberties and rights of other citizens, government must stay out of our personal lives.
