The illegal immigration crisis is one of the, if not the, biggest threats to the United States for several reasons. First, it’s truly an issue of national security. Thousands upon thousands of people enter this country undocumented annually. There is no doubt that terrorists have used the unsecured boarders as a point of entry. The United States Border must be protected and defended before an attack is launched upon this country right under our own noses.
Second, illegal immigrants are a drain on the Federal and state budgets through welfare and health care. It is immoral for money to be taken by the government from hard working legal citizens, and given to those who are in this country illegally.
We must increase the number of border agents on the ground and allow them to do their job! In other words, they shouldn’t be punished when they actually defend this nation. The brave men and women at the borders should have the best technology for prevention, defense, and offense.
The U.S. must also reform the welfare, entitlement State that entices illegal aliens to enter this country in the first place. Until this happens, we will not see significant improvement on our borders.
I believe we also need to revise the Fourteenth Amendment to end automatic birthright citizenship.
